It had been a looooong time since our last date night so when I saw an event which promised to be a fab night out with childminding services available on site. I leapt at the chance. Winederlust was billed to be a night of fine wines and food, all with the scenic backdrop of Canberra city.
The event was held up the Telstra tower, also called Black Mountain tower locally. So we had the pleasure of seeing the sun set over the city. The beautiful thing about looking over Canberra from up the tower is seeing all of the spectacular scenery around the city – the Molongolo river, the mountains and the beautiful bushland.
We arrived to a warm welcome and a tasty glass of cava. Luckily for John they were happy for him to taste craft beers instead of wine (as he doesn’t like wine). Over the course of the evening we could sample 6 different wines which were paired with cheeses and canapes.
I don’t know what was better, the chance for a night out talking to adults or the tasty selection of wine and canapes.
It was reassuring to know that our daughter was being safely looked after by childminders and enjoying the company of other children.
Windederlust is the brainchild of a local Mum, Jeanene who missed the travelling and visiting vineyards she used to do before having a family. What a fantastic business concept – to have a night out for parents with professional childminding services available too.
I didn’t make it through the full selection of 6 wines on offer, but enjoyed trying some new white wines, as well as some tasty cheese and canape pairings. I also loved being able to chat to grown ups without constant interruption. Winederlust and date night success. Cheers!
