5 months in the “Bush capital”, Canberra

| |

It’s amazing how quick another month has passed while we apply for even more jobs and explore the city. We have also been getting stuck into volunteering for a local charity and I have been enjoying doing an evening course.

One of the wonderful things about Canberra, is that there seems to be a festival or event on virtually every weekend. So we have recently been to the Enlighten Festival and the Night Noodles market and are looking forward to getting up at 5am(!) soon to go and see the Canberra Hot Air Balloon Festival.

As we have been struggling to find permanent jobs, we have been trying to keep our spending costs as low as possible. So no extravagant trips for us and trying to keep our energy bills low. We have been trying to have as short showers as possible and continue to keep the lights switch off as much as possible!

The good news on the job front is that John has got a job, so will be starting work in a couple of weeks.

Our daughter is loving going to preschool so things are starting to look more positive. However it’s still hard to be so far away from home, especially when there are unwell family members.
